Computer Room at the BellSouth Communications and Life Skills Center

The Communications and Life Skills Center is a state of the art computer center designed to enhance the cognitive skills of patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and neurological dysfunction.

The Center features computer workstations designed especially to foster a sense of independence for rehabilitation patients. The adaptive equipment provides accessibility for patients who are wheelchair bound; speech, hearing or sight impaired; or suffering from partial paralysis. The computers feature voice activated controls; large screen monitors; adapted keyboard, joystick and mouse controls; and software designed to build everyday skills such as balancing a checkbook and enhancing memory recall. A workstation designed and programmed specifically for pediatric patients was funded by a grant from Paul Newman and Newman's Own Foundation.
