Pro/Am

Each foursome will be paired with a TPGA golf professional whose score may be used to help the foursome on any hole. Amateurs may use the best drive of the group on each hole. The tournament will use morning and afternoon shotgun starts.

Format

The field is limited to 48 groups consisting of four amateurs and one professional, and will be organized in two shotgun starts. For the amateurs, the format will be a two-person scramble. Teams are allowed to use the pro’s drive and score on each hole. Scoring will be based on the following point system: 1 point for a bogey, 2 points for a par, 3 points for a birdie, and 4 points for an eagle. No points can be made after bogey, and the team is required to pick up.

Each team will be given a quota based on their handicap being deducted from 36. Handicaps are derived by using the USGA formula for a two-person scramble: 35% of the “A” player plus 15% of the “B” player. Deducting the team handicap from 36 gives the team their quota. Points at the end of the round are added and compared to the quota, resulting in a plus, minus, or even total. (Plus is great!)

Example:

  • A – 10 handicap @ 35% = 3.5
  • B – 25 handicap @ 15% = 3.75
  • A + B = team handicap = 7.25 (or 7)
  • 36 – 7 = 29 = team quota

Please note, Holston Hills Country Club has a spikeless policy. No traditional metal spikes will be allowed on the course.

Each participating golfer receives greens fee with golf cart; a goodie bag; practice range balls; meals; and course beverages. Each player will also be eligible to win a door prize.

Awards

Prizes will be awarded to the two-person teams in the first three places for four flights in each round. In addition, prizes will be awarded for:

  • First Hole-in-One: All Par Threes
  • Closest to the Pin: All Par Threes
  • Longest Drive: Hole #10

Only amateurs are eligible for the Hole-in-One, Closest to the Pin, and Longest Drive contests.
