Today, we meet and get to know Julie Thornburg, a dedicated nurse at Patricia Neal who has been with us for 26 years and counting.

I’m from Knoxville, TN.

How long have you worked at Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center?

26 years

Tell us a little bit about your job at Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center.

I am a registered nurse shift leader on 4E at Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center. I care for patients recovering from spinal cord injuries (SCI), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and strokes (CVA). I work in a team approach with nurses and therapist to care for patients and get them ready to discharge home with family.

Why did you decide to go into your specialty?

This actually was my first job offer out of nursing school, and I decided to stay because it was the right fit for me. I love being with the patients and seeing their amazing progress. It’s a feel-good job, so I’ve stayed with it.

What do you enjoy most about working at Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center?

I enjoy working at Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center because we have great teamwork, and all of us truly care for our patients and their families. I’m proud of what we do for our patients every day.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy cooking, reading and spending time with my family and friends. I am also active in my church and passionate about growing in my faith.

What is your favorite food?

Italian and Mexican foods

What is your favorite TV show?

My favorite television shows are A Million Little Things and This is Us.
